Houria Tazi was born into the family of the Pacha of Rabat, Morocco. The Palace was the scene for elegant parties and receptions. They received important guests from around the world and Houria, who had been taught to sew by the nuns in France, started creating Couture table linens for the Palace. Soon Houria was invited (33 years ago) to present her designs at an exposition at La Mamounia in Marrakech. Nina Ricci, Christian Dior, La Chatelaine, The Monogrammed Shop in London, private clients, and interior designers in Europe and the Middle East made Atelier Houria Tazi an overnight sensation. Three years ago the reigns of the company were passed on to Houria’s daughter, Kenza. All of the work is done in Morocco and Kenza carries on the bespoke with her own fabulous flair!
