The original of this distinguished dinner service was made in China for the East India Company during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795). It was a choice of Nelson Rockefeller, former Vice President of the United States for the collection he produced with Mildred Mottahedeh in 1976. Glowing against a starry sky of cobalt blue are golden butterflies signifying happiness. What more auspicious setting for a happy meal!
